CHOLERA - how to prevent

More than 86 people died because of Cholera in Nigeria
More than 1600 people show symptoms

Desease spreading from Plateau state onwards to the north as well as to the south. Small children, elderly and week people in life danger

CHOLERA - Source Wikipedia: QUOTE
The main symptoms are watery diarrhea and vomiting. Transmission occurs primarily by drinking water or eating food that has been contaminated by the feces (waste product) of an infected person, including one with no apparent symptoms. Severe cholera, requiring hospitalization, results from the accumulation of about a million bacterial cells within the body.

Signs seen when infected with Cholera
When you have a running stomach and when your throwing up, you may have Cholera.
The way you get it, is from dirtyness. The illness is transferred through the use of dirty water i.e. water where people have relieved themselves. (bluntly said shit and/or piss)

Cholera like a lot of other sicknesses is due to a dirty environment. A rigid standard of cleaness has to be maintained.

To keep it short
Overall rule to prevent deseases from spreading is to not defecate in rivers, brooks and lakes.
There are a lot of accounts about Cholera as to where it comes from and what has to be done to cure it. Or how to prevent it. For complexity reasons those accounts are not really helping you.

As the treatment of Cholera is very expensive, the best cure is the prevention
Because people get treated only when depositing money in the first hand, the best cure is prevention.

1) Consider all water infected. Even if it is clear (bacteria do not show)
2) After defecating (relieve, using the toilet, ease yourself) the hands must be washed with soap.
3) Before eating, the hands must be washed with soap.
4) Drink only disinfected water.

Clean drinking water
As sometimes bottled water or sachet-water cannot be afforded, there is a simple way to purify (disinfect) the water for drinking.

Simply use PET-bottles (transparent plastic bottles, see-through bottles) to purify your water. Fill them with sifted water (pass the water through a piece of cloth) and expose the bottles to the sun for 6 hours if the sun is shining. If there is no sun shining, leave the bottles outside for 12 hours.

This water treatment is safe and not expensive. You only need empty PET-bottles (Waterbottles), sunshine and a peace of cloth for sifting.

Suggestion
Everybody is responsible for himself. Do not wait for somebody to do anything for you.
Do it yourself.
